Knowledge society in the context of the economic development with a focus in Kosovo

Building the knowledge society in a globalization world where information is considered a strategic resource is very important for every country. In the last two decades the development of societies has shifted from a concept of information to knowledge society. Kosovo has been proclaimed as a country of knowledge society by its government, too. But, what challenges did Kosovo have toward building knowledge society? What are the main problems and perspectives? All these questions are analyzed in this paper. Based on the development of basic elements of knowledge society, as well as problems and challenges that Kosovo is facing, this study has attempted to answer the question of how far Kosovo has advanced towards knowledge society and what should be done by the government to support and develop the main sectors that contribute to the development of knowledge society and integration of country in developed societies
