<p><strong>Abstract </strong></p><p>In this paper we present the discovery of a series of frescoes for the first time, revealed in 2012 during a restoration carried out in the Crucifix chapel in the Mother Church of Sant’Antonio in the town Aci Sant’Antonio (Catania, Sicily). The murals were preserved in each of the corners of the square chapel behind the XIX<strong>°</strong> century counter wall. In this paper we also show the application of multispectral imaging (MSI) and portable XRF spectroscopy (pXRF) for the identification of pigments on this interesting case of painted murals.
