Establishing a qualifications framework which allows the assessment of competences acquired by the beneficiaries is a component of the European Union’s economic and social development strategy which seeks to improve the efficiency of education and research so as to meet the demands of the labor market. This study looks at the difficulties encountered in the creation of national qualification frameworks (with an accent on the Romanian case) and in their harmonization within a common European framework
