Lens opacity i.e. cataract, is one of the major causes of visual disability and blindness. The distribution of cataract varies widely and the age related or senile cataract is common all over the world. Over seventeen million people in the whole world are effected by the loss of lens transparency, of which two million persons belong to Pakistan. Thus the prevention of cataract requires a complete understanding of the lens and its structure so that possible preventive measures could be development. Present study was directed towards exploring biochemical causes of lens opacity by studying lens proteins, aqueous humor and plasma
