There is statistical relationship between the reduced emission of pollutants from stationary sources and population mortality in Petrozavodsk from 2000 to 2012. The improvement of demographic indicators is significantly associated with the decrease of the total emitted mass as well as the emission of definite pollutants – carbon monoxide and sulfur dioxide. The exception is the mortality from neoplasms, that is significantly related to the amount of nitrogen oxides emission. Before 2004 these figures reduce, and then grow with considerable fluctuations.
