Cultural studies and information science: information fonts with the ethnic-racial thematic

Introduction: Information is a social, historical and cultural phenomenon that demands an interdisciplinary approach for better understanding of its fundaments and practices. On the other hand, the scientific character of information is concentrated in Social Science field. The area also incorporates issues related to the sociocultural dynamics present in Information Science. Aim: The aim of this study is to establish the theoretical and practical link between Information Science and Cultural Studies to characterize the information fonts related with the ethnic-racial thematic. Methodology: Thus the research performed a literature review in the areas of Information Science, Cultural Studies, Sociology, Anthropology and Philosophy. Results: The result of this interdisciplinary application highlights the information as a cultural artifact capable of expressing symbolic elements of the producer social group. Conclusion: As the effect of theoretical digression, we emphasize the prominence of the sociocultural approach of Information Science to in order to minimize the racist practices on behalf of the black population
