-This study aims to be able to elaborate comprehensively about the evidence of Islamic civilization in the ethnic region of Makassar, as found in Maros, Makassar, Gowa, and Jeneponto. The problem that can be explained through the pattern of distribution, origin, diversity, period of development, the influence of local culture, and the meanings contained in it. The study was conducted using two methods; archaeological and historical method. As the results of the study indicate that the jirat and tombstone contained in the area consisting of various forms as a sign of plurality with different developmental periods.
