Slavistics is a relatively young linguistic discipline. Its beginnings, in the period of domination of the historical linguistics, are characterized with the rapid development of the “classical“ dialectology, which means field-work in the domain of comparative phonetics and inflection leading to the defining of the kinship relations in the Slavic group of the IndoEuropean languages.
