International audienceEmpirical and intuitive analyses of an oration's structure and constituent components often prove inconclusive or unsatisfactory. The goal of this study is to examine the classical theory of the peroration and its application in a series of ciceronian orations in order to identify the grammatical, stylistic and structural markers that implicitly announce the transition from the body of the orator's argument to his peroration.
