Nowadays, solid state laser is one way to access the infrared and terahertz light with a good coherence and a high brightness, for broad application prospects like spectroscopy and atmospheric molecules detection. The best way to generate this light is use second order parametric nonlinear optics which allows the frequency conversion of a monochromatic laser through a crystal with appropriate properties. However, the goal is find new materials since a lot of crystals already identified present a too low optical damage threshold for high energy applications.
