International audienceThe medium Mn steels are a topic of interest from both practical and scientific point of view. Many studies were focused on the microstructure characterization, but only some of them addressed the mechanisms of austenite formation and stabilization. Hence, there are still remaining questions regarding the link between the optimum retained austenite fraction and stability and the austenite formation including both the morphological and kinetics aspects.
