International audienceThis article explores clinical cases of interaction between depressed mothers and their babies. Emphasis will be laid on the notion of emotional availability on the part of the mother and mutual comprehension within the context of dyadic affective systems to highlight the link between maternal emotional availability and the type of attachment formed by the child.
