The work reported in this PhD deals with AC losses in superconducting material for large scale applications such as cables or magnets. Numerical models involving FEM and integral methods have been developed to solve the time transient electromagnetic distributions of field and current density with the peculiarity of the superconducting constitutive E-J equation. Two main conductors have been investigated for two ranges of superconducting cables. First, REBCO superconductors working at 77 K are studied and a new architecture of conductor (round wires) for 3~kA cables.
