After transcription, the pre mRNA will undergo different maturation step before getting out of the nucleus for translation. One of these step of maturation is the splicing. It allows to concatenate the coding sequences of the mRNA (the exons) and induces the exclusion of the non coding sequences (the introns).Genetics mutations can lead to splicing defects.
