International audienceOne of the major demographic phenomena of the 21st century is the aging of the population, which is of an unprecedented nature for the whole of the world and for France. Its measurement implies considering two different concepts, aging stricto sensu and gerontocroissance. The analysis of the data highlights four differentiated types of territorial evolutions, consequently calling for different local policies.Un des phénomènes démographiques majeurs du XXIe siècle est le vieillissement de la population, de nature inédite pour l’ensemble du monde comme pour la France.
