Les catalogues de la collection des ducs de Leuchtenberg : rédaction et diffusion de savoirs muséographiques européens

The model adopted for the writing and distribution of the catalogues of the ducal collection, conceived by the architect Leo von Klenze and the curator Nepomuk Muxel in Munich, is different from the museum models then available. Between 1825 and 1851 work on illustrated catalogues and the international distribution of the ``paper museum'' progressively adopted a scientific organisation and contributed to the writing of art history, and of the history of museums, by developing the ideas on museums of Nicolas de Pigage and Christian von Mechel in Dusseldorf. The study of this ``paper museography'' can help in understanding how the Leuchtenberg gallery became a museum in the meaning the word had in the 19th century : it was taken out of the private sphere into the public, in terms of its institutional status, out of the confidential sphere in terms of its communication, and away from the haphazard in terms of its organisation.Le modèle adopté pour la rédaction et la diffusion des catalogues de cette collection ducale, proposé par l'architecte Leo von Klenze et le conservateur Johann Nepomuk Muxel à Munich, se distingue des modèles muséaux européens alors en vigueur. Entre 1825 et 1851, les travaux de catalogage illustré et la diffusion internationale de ce "musée de papier" adoptent progressivement une organisation scientifique et contribuent à l'écriture de l'histoire de l'art et des musées en reprenant les réflexions muséographiques de Nicolas de Pigage et de Christian von Mechel à Düsseldorf. L'étude de cette"muséographie de papier" permet de comprendre comment la galerie Leuchtenberg est devenue un musée au sens que lui donne le XIXe siècle, en la sortant du champ du privé (dans son statut), du confidentiel (dans sa communicabilité) et de l'aléatoire (dans son organisation).
