Représentations et symbolismes du cheval. La révolution contemporaine interprétée à travers les arts populaires et enfantins

International audienceThe entrance of the riding to the society of leisure in Western world upsets the representations and the symbolism of the horse, simultaneously to the double phenomenon of feminization and rejuvenation of the riders. The object of this article is to analyse this historic transformation to understand it, by wondering about the influence of the popular and childish arts - literary, film and television- in this emotional and hedonist redefining of the horse. Their thorough analysis will allow us to move forward a typology of the contemporary imagination of the symbolic relation to the horse.L’entrée de l’équitation dans la société des loisirs en Occident bouleverse les représentations et symbolismes du cheval, simultanément au double phénomène de féminisation et rajeunissement des pratiquants. L’objet de cet article est d’analyser cette transformation historique pour en comprendre les schèmes, en s’interrogeant sur l’influence des arts populaires et enfantins –littéraires, cinématographique et télévisuelles-, dans cette redéfinition affective et hédoniste du cheval. Leur analyse approfondie nous permettra d’avancer une typologie des imaginaires contemporains de la relation symbolique au cheval
