International audienceSituated to thje north of the city of Poitiers, the excavation of the rural establishment of Saint-Georges-lès-Baillargeaux revealed the presence of several timber buildings that were destroyed by a violent fire in the middle of first century BC. The main house, with its surface area of 70 m² and built on four posts with rejected wall, underwent a detailed investigation. The excavation of the post holes revealed a large quantity of daub fragments and the study of the wood imprints on these elements specified how the walls of the buildings were built.
