Rooted on a sociological and psychosociological review of literature about gender inequalities within the school system, the aims of the thesis is to identify the social construction of gender in Physical Education (PE) from a didactic approach. Social research in sport has shown that PE contributes to reinforce and legitimate significant gender inequalities. Girls and boys develop different attitudes, perceptions, competencies, skills and knowledge about PE content.
