Anaemia is a frequent systemic manifestation of inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) which has significant impact on the quality of life, is associated with severity of disease and resistance to therapy. Anaemia in IBD is multifactorial and associated with loss of blood due to intestinal bleeding, inadequate intake and absorbtion of nutrients as well as with core inflammation. Both iron deficiency and anaemia of chronic disease are observed. The article is devoted to the treatment of anemic syndrome in patients with IBD depending on the type of anemia and the hepcidin-25 level in blood serum
