This reaction also proceeds with high diastereoselectivity when the [pi]-nucleophile bears a chiral auxiliary. The formal synthesis of N-methylwelwitindolinone C isothiocyanate, a densely functionalized alkaloid with the ability to reverse multiple drug resistance, was completed featuring several key transformations.
