The 10$^{-2}-10^{3}$ R $\gamma$-dose range of the YOKOTA-type dosimeter glasses can be extended to about 10$^{7}$ R by fluorimetric and/or absorption measurements. The superimposed effects of increase and decrease of fiuorescence and absorption centre concentration are studied for glasses of different silver concentrations under different conditions (thermal and u.v.-bleaching, thermal "stabilization" of effects, etc.). Practical and theoretical aspects of the experiments are discussed briefly
