Photoionization cross sections, σ, and angular distribution asymmetry parameters, β, for the majority of levels manifested in the subvalence ns-shell photoelectron spectra of the Kr and Xe atoms are calculated. For many levels the results of our calculations are compared with our measured σ and β values and with other works. The main mechanisms giving rise to the complex photon energy dependence of the β-parameters are analyzed
