Research has shown that in order for inclusion to be successful, the individuals involved in its implementation must be in favour of it. However, professionals within the field do not agree on how inclusion should be defined or implemented in practice. Furthermore, research with EPs, who play a vital role in the education of learners with SEND, shows that although most EPs are pro-inclusion, very few favour ‘full inclusion’, and preference for placement depends on the type of need a child has.
