The aim of quantum mechanics is to explain macroscopic, objectively recorded phenomena. Microscopic objects are measured by enabling them to interact with a macroscopic measuring apparatus prepared in a metastable state. Macroscopic objects, such as cats, are not above the laws of quantum mechanics, but owing to their enormously dense level spectrum other aspects than single eigenvalues and eigenfunctions are prominent. These aspects can be described in classical terms, such as probabilities instead of probability amplitudes. The measuring act is fully described by the Schrödinger equation for object system and apparatus together. The collapse of the wave function is a consequence rather than an additional postulate. A model is constructed ...
We construct a rigourous model of quantum measurement. A two-state model of a negative temperature a...
We address the basic postulates of quantum mechanics and point out that they are formulated for a cl...
This is a book about the Hilbert space formulation of quantum mechanics and its measurement theory. ...
The problem of measurement in Quantum Mechanics will be briefly reviewed. Since the measurement proc...
Although quantum mechanics is a mature theory, fundamental problems discussed during its time of fou...
We derive the probabilities of measurement results from Schroedinger's equation plus a definition of...
In this paper, we discuss the importance of measurement in quantum mechanics and the so-called measu...
The accuracies of measurements of almost all fundamental physical constants have increased by factor...
In the Schr\"odinger-cat gedanken experiment a cat is in a quantum superposition of two macroscopica...
Perhaps quantum mechanics is viewed as the most remarkable development in 20th century physics. Each...
This is a new analysis of the measuring process for non-relativistic quantum mechanical systems, in ...
We propose a theory of quantum (statistical) measurement which is close, in spirit, to Hepp's theory...
