We consider a master equation for the stochastic spin- Ising chain with nearest-neighbour interaction in zero magnetic field and in contact with a heat bath of temperature T. The master equation contains a large number of free parameters vl,m which determine the microscopic details of the kinetics. In an earlier paper [Physica 66 (1973) 497] this equation was solved exactly. In the present paper a probability ensemble Rn({vl,m}) over the parameters vl,m is defined, where n indicates the width of the ensemble and thereby the amount of randomness in the kinetics. This randomness is shown to modify the Rn-averaged spectrum of the relaxation times of the Fourier components of energy and magnetization. In particular we find for T → 0 a critical ...
