The λ decay of resonances in the 37Cl(p,λ)38Ar reaction in the Ep=1–2 MeV region has been investigated with a Ge(Li) counter. Mean lives of 11 bound states are found from λ-ray Doppler shift measurements. The Jπ values of resonances and three bound states are obtained from λ-ray angular-distribution and polarization measurements. The Ep = 1732 keV, Jπ = 4−, resonance can be regarded as the analogue of 38Cl(3). The enhancement of J → J M1 transitions, formerly observed for 5− → 5−, has also been observed for 3− → 3− and 4− → 4− transitions
