textabstractThe pelvic floor is a complex of connective tissue, ligaments, fascia and muscle fibres that form a hammock at the bottom of the abdomino-pelvic cavity [1-2]. In women, the function of the pelvic floor is to stabilize the bladder, urethra, bowel and uterus within the pelvis, which is of relevance to urinary and anal continence. Furthermore, the pelvic floor plays an important role during pregnancy and delivery and in sexual functioning.
