Meetstrategie bestrijdingsmiddelen voor de drinkwaterbedrijven

Considerable variation has been found in the measurement frequency and the number of pesticides measured at drinking-water company sites, but the general picture is that Dutch water companies' monitoring is sufficient. The Dutch legislation includes standards for pesticides but no indication of the exact pesticides to be measured. Based on research into achieving more harmony in monitoring pesticides, this report presents two protocols to aid water companies in describing their measurement strategies. The current motives of drinking-water companies for setting up a measurement programme for pesticides are illustrated in the results of the research. The following aspects play a role in the choice of pesticides and measurement strategy: knowledge on the use of resources in the surroundings, vulnerability of the extraction, analyses offered by the water laboratory and frequencies agreed on between VEWIN and VROM. Groundwater and surface water each have a separate protocol, with the following aspects taken into consideration: - description of the raw water source; - vulnerability analysis of the extraction well; - inventory of resources relevant for pesticides; measurement frequency; - analysis technique. The univocality of and insight into the choice of pesticides, measurement frequency and strategies are increased by following a protocol, and also contribute to simplifying the annual inspection of the monitoring programme by the VROM Inspectorate
