Posttraumatische Symptomatik bei verunfallten Kindern und deren Eltern

Child and parental posttraumatic stress symptoms following a child’s road traffic accident. Aims: The current study examined the association between symptoms of posttraumatic stress in children and parental symptoms of posttraumatic stress and dysfunctional cognitions following a child’s road traffic accident. Method: The sample consisted of 27 children (age 8 to 16), 25 mothers and 17 fathers. The symptoms of posttraumatic stress in children were assessed with a structured clinical interview. The remaining variables were assessed by means of questionnaires. Results: Significantly positive correlations were found between childrens’ symptoms of posttraumatic stress and mothers’ symptoms of posttraumatic stress (rt = .36, p = .009) and mothers’ dysfunctional cognitions (rt = .31, p = .017), respectively. With regard to fathers’ psychological variables the associations were not significant (rt = .02, p = .448 and rt = - .03, p = .417). Conclusions: The current results indicate the necessity to consider the interaction between child and maternal posttraumatic stress symptoms after a child’s road traffic accident. ___ Fragestellung: In der vorliegenden Studie wurde der Zusammenhang zwischen der Schwere der posttraumatischen Symptomatik der Kinder und der posttraumatischen Symptomatik sowie dysfunktionalen Kognitionen der Eltern nach einem Verkehrsunfall der Kinder untersucht. Methodik: Die Stichprobe setzt sich aus 27 Kindern (8 bis 16 Jahre), 25 Müttern und 17 Vätern zusammen. Zur Erfassung der posttraumatischen Symptomatik wurde bei den Kindern ein strukturiertes klinisches Interview eingesetzt, die übrigen Variablen wurden mittels Fragebögen erhoben. Ergebnisse: Es zeigte sich eine bedeutsame positive Korrelation zwischen der posttraumatischen Symptomatik der Kinder und der posttraumatischen Symptomatik der Mütter (rt = .36, p = .009) bzw. den dysfunktionalen Kognitionen der Mütter (rt = .31, p = .017). Im Hinblick auf die Väter waren die Zusammenhänge nicht bedeutsam (rt = .02, p = .448 bzw. rt = - .03, p = .417). Schlussfolgerungen: Die Ergebnisse der vorliegenden Studie verweisen auf die Notwendigkeit, bei verunfallten Kindern die Wechselwirkung zwischen der posttraumatischen Symptomatik der Kinder und der Symptomatik ihrer Mütter zu berücksichtigen
