Child and parental posttraumatic stress symptoms following a child’s road traffic accident. Aims: The current study examined the association between symptoms of posttraumatic stress in children and parental symptoms of posttraumatic stress and dysfunctional cognitions following a child’s road traffic accident. Method: The sample consisted of 27 children (age 8 to 16), 25 mothers and 17 fathers. The symptoms of posttraumatic stress in children were assessed with a structured clinical interview. The remaining variables were assessed by means of questionnaires.
