Synthetic peptides are useful tools for the generation of antibodies. The use of antibodies as specific reagents in inununochemical assays is widely applied. In this chapter, the application of synthetic peptides for the generation of antibodies is described. The different steps that lead to the unique reagents, such as the selection of the peptide sequence, the constmction of the immunogen, immunization procedures and assays for the selection of the antibodies, are discussed
