In September 2001, a noise test for imaging the lithospheric crust below the Netherlands was carried out. In the late 1980’s, TNO shot a 2-D seismic profile through the Netherlands with the aim to image down to the lower crust, but their main target (acquisition parameters) was the upper sedimentary basin, and not the granitic crust down to the Mohorovic discontinuity. Therefore, in the noise test large dynamite charges and large offsets (4 km to 32 km) were recorded.
