Morphometric analysis of 0-10 months old girls primordial ovarian follicles

The aim. To analize histologically primordial ovarian follicles of 0–10 months old girls, to carry out their morphometric analysis and perform analysis of the results. Objectives: 1. To perform morphometric analyze of 0-10 months old girls primordial ovarian follicles and their primary oocytes; 2. To evaluate the association between girl’s age and morphometric data; 3. To evaluate the association between morphometric data of follicles, oocytes, oocytes nuclei, follicular epithelial cells, basement membranes. Methods. In this study, histological slides of five 0-10 months old died girls’ ovaries were examined. 10 primordial ovarian follicles were analyzed in each ovary. Measurements of diameter, area and perimeter of primordial follicles, oocytes and oocytes nuclei were performed, follicular epithelial cells length, height, area and perimeter, basement membrane thickness were measured. Statistical analysis was performed with SPSS 20.0 package. Results. Ovarian primordial follicles average diameter was from 4,97±0,37 μm to 6,05±1,44 μm, oocytes – from 3,58±0,29 to 3,77±0,32 μm, oocytes nuclei – from 49±0,16 μm to 1,60±0,18μm, follicular epithelial cells average length – from 0,53±0,03 μm to 0,77±0,08 μm. Associations between girl’s age and primordial follicles area (p = 0.41, r = -0.290), oocytes area (p = 0.017, r = -0.335), follicular epithelial cells perimeter (p = 0.003, r = -0.414) were determined.
