Family System and Social Reproduction in a Rural Parish of the Province of Maracaibo: The Immaculate Conception of La Cañada (1784 -1835)

Se realiza una aproximación a diferentes dimensiones del sistema familiar en la parroquia Inmaculada Concepción de La Cañada, Provincia de Maracaibo, a fines del siglo XVIII y principios del siglo XIX. Se encuentra, entre otros, que factores culturales asociados a una marcada preocupación por mantener el patrimonio simbólico del grupo familiar y a la predominancia del principio del parentesco cognaticio como lógica de reproducción social parecen haber jugado un rol predominante en la conformación del sistema familiar entre el sector de familias propietarias pertenecientes al grupo étnico mayoritario en la parroquia.25-71lmrincon@alumni.stanford.eduSemestralAn approximation is made to different dimensions of the family system in the rural parish Immaculate Conception of La Cañada, Province of Maracaibo, in the late eighteenth century and early nineteenth century.
