Low cost sensors has been applied in environmental areas including air and water quality, ground contamination, radiation, noise, even heat and light pollution. Some of the PM sensors are also being used in air monitors as sensing elements such as Airbeam and Airstation (Shiynei PPD60PV), and AirAssure PM2.5 monitor (Sharp GP2Y1010AU0F). However, the feasibility and reliability of low cost sensors in air quality monitoring may need to be validated and calibrated since the concentration of air pollutants is very low in some ambient environment
