Proučavanje dužine života eritrocita pojednostavnjeno je upotrebom radioaktivnog kroma, a njegovom primjenom u mogućnosti smo pratiti ponašanje bolesnikovih eritrocita nakon autotransfuzije, kao i ponašanje eritrocita davaoca u bolesniku. Opisane su metode tih istraživanja i raspravljena su tumačenja za različne tipove krivulja. Prikazani su primjeri krivulja dužine života eritrocita kod različitih oblika hemolitskih anemija.
