Preferensi Spesies Lalat Buah Terhadap Atraktan Metil Eugenol Dan Cue-Lure Dan Populasinya Di Sumatera Barat Dan Riau

Objective of the research was to study the preference of fruitflies species to methyl eugenol and cue-lure attractant and its population at West Sumatera and Kundur Island, Riau. The research was conducted by survey on June 2003 to December 2004. Fruitflies were trapped by using methyl eugenol or cue-lure attractant that were hung inside of traps made from used bottle of mineral water. The fruitflies caught were brought to the laboratory of plant protection, Indonesian Tropical Fruit Research Institute (ITFRI) for identification by using Cabikey electronic identification key and the percentage of each species caught were counted. Among species found, 17 species attracted to methyl eugenol, 19 species attracted to cue-lure, and 9 species attracted to both attractants. Bactrocera carambolae and B. papayae were the most abundance species found in almost the whole research location. This information can be used to develop control strategy of fruitfly, especially using sexferomone
