The bacteria were microorganisms, which cannot be observe with the naked eye, but can only be seen with the aid of microorganisms itself. The purpose of this study was to determine the antibacterial activity of ethanol extract of cashew bark (Annacardium occidentale L.) on the inhibition of bacterial growth from the saliva of patients with mouth ulcers. The extraction was done by maceration method using 96 % of ethanol. Testing for antibacterial activity was performing using agar diffusion method. The results showed that the ethanol extract of cashew stem bark have antibacterial activity against the bacteria taken from the three of sprue patients. Extracts with the concentrations of 0.2 : 1; 0.4 : 1; 0.6 : 1; 0.8 : 1; perform as an effective concentration in inhibiting the growth of bacteria from the saliva of three patients of sprue.Keywords: Annacardium occidentale L., Antibacterial Activity, Saliva, Patients Sprue.
