: Characteristics of Students' Metacognition based on Personality Type in Solving Mathematical Problems. The purpose of this explorative study was to find out the characteristics of students' metacognition of guardian, rational, artisan and idealist types in dealing with mathematical problems. Four Year-11 subjects of a senior high school were involved in the study, one representing guardian type, one rational type, one artisan type, and one idealist type. The results showed that various characteristic types of students' metacognition in guardian, rational, artisan and idealist were differently utilized in dealing with mathematical problems
