: Pesantren salafiah are educational institutions that are distributed throughout the country. Simplicity, local wisdom and philosophy as well as the pattern of education is rooted in the majority of the people of Indonesia, especially in the Islamic faith-based education. Indirectly and not formal character education has been strongly implanted with distinctive patterns and techniques salafiah boarding. True character education should not use a formal curriculum, enough with hiden curriculum. Character education is not always taught in the classroom, but performed simultaneously and continuous inside and outside the classroom. The success of character education will be influenced by role models and examples of real life and in learning activities.
