"Der Zug" was the newsletter of the second unit of the local “Blau-Weiss” (“blue-white”) organization in Leipzig. “Blau-Weiss” was a Zionist youth movement developed as an alternative to the "Wandervogel,” the German nationalist movement from which Jews were often excluded. “Blau-Weiss” groups cultivated a love of the German fatherland along with being a Jewish. In addition to trips and social meetings, members of “Blau-Weiss” celebrated Jewish holidays outdoors, and learned Jewish folksongs and the Hebrew language.Recataloging - edited recordDescription based on issue 2 (1925).CATALOGING COMPLETE 20170621.
