As an MFA candidate at the University of Maryland College Park's School of Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies, I used Hip-Hop and Modern dance to address cycles that have been recurring throughout American history since Congress’ abolishment of slavery in 1865. However, the events depicted were told from the perspective of Americans between the ages of 19 and 33. Each story served as a moment for the audience to assess themselves, this country, and the recent events that have shaped our experiences.
