The organophosphorus nerve agents form part of chemical agents which pose the NRBC threat (nuclear, radio, biological, chemical). These agents can get into the body by inhalation, ingestion or skin absorption. The main route of chemical agent absorption which are low volatile, as VX or yperite, is the dermal route. Decontamination of unprotected skin areas is crucial to prevent excessive absorption of toxic. This work aimed at evaluating the ability of cerium oxide nanoparticles to adsorb and degrade organophosphorus compounds by using an organophosphorus pesticide, Paraoxon, and an in vitro model, pig-ear skin.
