Despite its availability, contaminated biomass is not widely used for energy production due to its high contamination with heavy metals. Understanding the role and behavior of those heavy metals in the pyro-gasification process is a major scientific challenge for optimizing the thermochemical valorization of contaminated biomass. For this purpose, experimental and thermodynamic approaches were used.
