Eliminating Blues on Yellow : Racial MeIancholia , Chineseness , Model Minority Myth and Intergenerational Relationship , and Gender in Eddie Huang\u27s Fresh off the Boat: A Memoir (2013), Yang and Pham\u27s Level up (2011) and Margaret Cho\u27s I\u27m the one that I want (2000)

Modem Asian American Young Adults (YA) literature tend to mingle with a Prototype of sentimental experiences, associated with immigration, model minority stereotypes and female protagonists. Moving beyond the trend, male protagonists of Eddie Huang\u27s memoir Fresh off the boat: A memoir (2013) and sitcom of the same title, Yang and Pham\u27s graphic novel Level up (2011), and leading feminist Margaret Cho\u27s stand-up comedy I\u27m the one that I want and memoir of the same title, cast light on the field. Racial melancholia, Chineseness, model minority myth and gender are critically explored in these texts with novel perspectives, and will be discussed at length in the body chapters. The object of this project is to untangle racial melancholia, unlimit Chineseness, uncover model minority myth with a major focus on intergenerational relationships in Asian American families, and unsex Asian American women through experiences and voices of Eddie Huang, Margaret Cho, and Dennis Ouyang in Yang and Pham\u27s graphic novel and examine how the literature helps eliminate these blues” on Asian Americans ( yellow )
