MRI has superior soft-tissue definition compared with existing imaging modalities in radiation oncology; this has the added benefit of functional as well as anatomical imaging. This review aimed to evaluate the current use of MRI for lung cancer and identify the potential of a MRI protocol for lung radiotherapy (RT). 30 relevant studies were identified. Improvements in MRI technology have overcome some of the initial limitations of utilizing MRI for lung imaging.
