Microorganisms play an important role in diverse areas, including food production, water purification, and microbial pathogenesis. Although the behavior of microorganisms has been largely studied, most of the research were done on open spaces, which did not fully resemble the natural environments. In order to overcome this problem, microfluidic structures were used to test the behaviors of microorganisms in confined microenvironments.
