An elaborate network of genes defines the genetic profile along the anteroposterioraxis of certain individuals in the Diptera family, establishing a robust pattern that differsslightly between species. Differences in the segmentation gene pattern of Drosophilaand Anopheles suggest that the parameters defining their networks evolved differentlyfrom the last common ancestor onwards. The study of the evolution of thenetwork, defined by a set of differential equations, using our genetic algorithm revealsa phenotypic pathway that explains these dissimilarities while conserving thenecessary conditions for viable species.
