Schistosomiasis is one of the top five neglected tropical diseases that affects over 200 million people world wide, while close to 800 million people live in at-risk areas. The only chemotherapy available against schistosomiasis is the drug praziquantel. However, it is ineffective against immature stages of the parasite, and therefore leaving a demand for the development of new drugs that target the juvenile stage.
