[EN] We review historical and recent dice snake records from the Danube valley below Passau, Bavaria, Germany. Snakes were released in the general area shortly after World War I and since then occasional sightings have occurred. We analysed mito- chondrial cytochrome b sequences of two recently discovered specimens from two nearby localities and compared them with other material from the whole distribution area of the species. The sequences of the specimens clustered with other sequences of the weakly differentiated European clades but were not found to be closely related to each other. We presume that no native dice snake population exists in the area and that occasiona...
